This recital featured pianists studying with Dr. Becky Billock at Grove City College during the 2017-2018 schoolyear.
The program was conceived as an avenue to storytelling through nostalgic vignettes. A wide range of composers have written pieces not so much for young pianists (although in some pieces that is the case), but rather as a sort of wistful remembrance of their own childhoods, real or imagined. Some of the pieces were dedicated to the composer's children.
In addition to the pieces that have obvious ties to childhood themes through their titles, we have also included on the program several works that are connected in a more abstract way. During the concert each performer will say a few words about their piece, explaining how the connection is meaningful to them as a person and as a musician.
Come join us and be a kid again for the day!
